Dinamo Zagreb supporters put it before Tuesday’s qualifying round for the Champions League: “This will be easy”. They had seen what Bodø/Glimt have achieved out in Europe, but this other club, Vikings? Ten minutes into the game, the Dinamo supporters confirmed it with a 2-0 lead. After this, there are few who dare to underestimate Viking.
Because when the teams went to halftime, the elite league team had silenced the Croatian supporters with goals from Peter Christiansen and Zlatko Tripic.

The Dinamo Zagreb player never fully recovered from the shock, as the Norwegian club refused to take the loss – and got up even before halftime.
“An incredible experience, we were shocked at first, unfortunately. But then we show crazy character when we get back in the game, says Zlatko Tripic.
Viking’s sporting director stated that it was “a bit surreal to stand here and see the Champions League logo. It’s absolutely magical and something you dream of.”
Now the fascination of seeing the most important logo in European football, the Viking players and Nevland know they are now not in as Champions League tourists. The Dinamo Zagreb players have every reason to be nervous before they travel to Stavanger for the second leg on Wednesday, August 26.
The winner here secures the ticket to the group stage of the Champions League, while the loser goes to the Europa League. Viking has clearly set their sights on the best.
