It’s nothing new that Manchester United are being linked with Donyell Malen, but this time it causes astonishment at English Goal.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United, along with Newcastle United and Chelsea, are interested in the Dutch international.

Malen joined Aston Villa in the summer of 2025 after an unimpressive spell at Borussia Dortmund, but struggled to get regular minutes under Unai Emery and was mostly limited to substitutes before securing a loan move to Roma in January. Here it has loosened up for the 27-year-old with 12 goals and 2 assists in just 16 games. All credit to the Dutchman for this.
Roma have an option to buy between £22 million and £30 million, but Malen himself is said to have some unfinished business in the Premier League.
According to the Italian newspaper, Roma’s owners, Friedkin Group, are set to approve a permanent transfer this week. Then we’ll see what Malen himself wants, with three Premier League clubs waving interest.
English Goal expresses in a headline what several United supporters think, after finally having a combination of players and a manager who gives victories: “Shock that Man Utd are eager to sign Dutch striker who did not come into Aston Villa’s team and left the club in January.”
