In January, when Ruben Amorim had been sacked at Manchester United, club legend and grumpy Roy Keane was quick to tell the world who will now be in charge of the Red Devils – and it wasn’t Michael Carrick. Four months later, Keane’s favorite is out of the question for the job.
In January, Roy Keane advocated for Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe to become the next permanent manager of Manchester United, praising his calmness, extensive experience and success in bringing Champions League football and a trophy to Newcastle. Keane stated that United need a manager who can get a “grip” on the players and establish a hard-to-beat attacking football.

Eddie Howe has been linked with Manchester United in recent months, especially with problems at Newcastle. Now in 12th place in the Premier League, there has been uncertainty over Howe’s future at St. James’ Park.
Keane may be hoping that Howe will be considered by the United management, but will be disappointed.
Because according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, unless something totally unexpected occurs, Howe will be in charge of Newcastle next season as well. The 48-year-old still has the full support of club owners and management, while he himself also wants to continue.
Sorry, Roy.
