It’s been so long since Rosenborg was Norway’s best club that you have to talk to the “seventh father in the house” to get good stories from Lerkendal.

Before the weekend, they traveled to Lyse Arena to meet the reigning Eliteserien champions Viking, a match that fans, players and management of the club seem to have lost in advance.

It’s so bad that even Swedish experts have gotten involved and no longer support their compatriot and Rosenborg’s head coach Alfred Johansson.

TV 2 expert Yaw Amankwah says there is only one way forward. – “Rosenborg must get rid of Johansson” (Ronny Deila will soon be available on the market)

Rosenborg captain Ole Selnæs is digging deep to find strength for the way forward.

Miserable start to the season

Rosenborg has opened the season very weakly and is at the very bottom after seven league rounds – with only five points.

After the weekend’s loss to Viking (3–0), Adresseavisen reported that Rosenborg’s board would meet to discuss coach Alfred Johansson’s future. The Swede’s job is at stake.

“There will be meetings going on all weekend and also after that.

“Must get rid of him”

TV 2’s expert and former player Yaw Amankwah is clear about what he thinks the board should do.

“Rosenborg must get rid of Alfred Johansson. That’s how bad it has been,” says Amankwah.

“We also have to take into account that it was an unusually weak season last year. It is difficult to imagine that the board’s talks will end with anything other than Alfred Johansson being finished as coach at Rosenborg, he adds.

Johansson on the future: “It’s natural that it will be a topic”

Rosenborg finished in seventh place last season. Johansson himself has stated the following about his own future at the Norwegian big club:

“It is natural that this (his future) becomes an issue when the results are not forthcoming. My focus is to do as good a job as possible for the team and Rosenborg, to turn this around,” says the 35-year-old.

Johansson is in his third season as RBK coach, and he has a contract until 2028. The question is whether he will be allowed to complete it.
