After nine years at Anfield, Andy Robertson said a tearful goodbye as a Liverpool player on Sunday. The 32-year-old has been a giant in the Premier League, Tottenham have been on since January to persuade the veteran to use his experience and continued impressive physical capacity in a Spurs shirt. Now a new club is throwing itself into the race for free agent Robertson.

In January, Andy Robertson was suddenly heavily linked with Tottenham. This was in the last week of the transfer window, Thomas Frank needed a veteran who had cracked all the codes in the Premier League. The Scot wisely stayed at Anfield to end the last months of his Liverpool contract in style, Tottenham sank like a stone towards the bottom of the table – without Frank. Roberto de Zerbi narrowly saved the club from relegation in the last game with a win against Everton.

Now the smoke has cleared, Tottenham are still in the Premier League and Robertson’s next club will most likely be Tottenham, according to various English media. The old lady intends to do something about this.

Because according to Sky Sports, Juventus have their sights set on the winner Robertson, and will coup Tottenham’s “done deal” signing. Robbo has never played football outside of the UK, with spells at Dundee United, Queens Park, Hull and Liverpool on his CV. The Italians can offer the Scotsman Europa League games and a more exotic football trip in southern Europe than another round of winter football on the ball island.
