The always so confident transfer journalist Romano tends to be right about a lot. So when he this time reports free agent Ørjan Nyland agrees and is close to signing with a new club, then it happens!

– RB Leipzig are closing in on an agreement to sign Norway’s goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland as a replacement for Gulácsi. A verbal agreement is in place, with details now being worked out, Romano writes on social media.

Norway’s national team goalkeeper spent a short stint at RB Leipzig 2022-23, but this time Nyland is in a completely different position. Straight out of the biggest arena in the World Cup with big games, on free transfer and ready to step in on the day. There RB Leipzig have a big challenge with veteran Péter Gulácsi on his way to Spanish Villarreal.

Nyland is not only looking for a big club, but plenty of playing time. At RB Leipzig, 24-year-old Maarten Vandevoordt was put into the role of first-choice goalkeeper at the end of the season, as veteran Gulacsi headed for an expected exit in the summer. Now comes the exit, RB Leipzig need an experienced goalkeeper like Nyland, who comes directly from games on the biggest stage with success.
