Sky Sports reported earlier this month that Anthony Gordon’s representatives have been in contact with Bayern Munich, where the Bundesliga giant has reportedly singled out the England international as the next big Premier League signing. At the same time, Liverpool are also reported to be working to sign the energetic winger/striker. Now it is reported that the 25-year-old has sent signals which club he wants to join.

Newcastle are said to be reluctant but open to Gordon sale if bids of £70 million tick in. Gordon is said to have given positive signals to Bayern, but according to Teamtalk’s “insider”, it is Liverpool who are running away with the signature.

“Insider” Fraser Fletcher has been informed by his sources that Gordon – who is a lifelong Liverpool fan and was on the club’s roster before leaving for Everton as an 11-year-old – would choose Liverpool over Bayern: “The player’s childhood love for Liverpool would prove crucial in any bidding war. Sources have told us that Liverpool have made early contact with Gordon’s representatives, and the reports they are getting back are entirely positive.”

Of course, Liverpool’s signing is contingent on the Reds putting big money on the table, and at least coming close to the bid Bayern will make, but it’s no secret that Liverpool are in the market for one and probably two new wingers this summer. Mohamed Salah is leaving the club for free and Federico Chiesa is also ready to leave.

Liverpool’s main target is RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, but it’s entirely possible that Gordon will be paired with the Ivorian, and not instead of. If Liverpool press the button and match, or at least come close to matching Bayern’s bid, Gordon contract is a “done deal”, it is reported.
