England took a two-goal lead over fellow hosts Mexico thanks to Jude Bellingham’s lightning-fast second-half goals. Julián Quiñones reduced the deficit shortly after with a finish past Jordan Pickford.
The Three Lions were reduced to ten men early in the second half after Jarell Quansah received a red card. Despite the male inferiority, England restored their two-goal lead when Kane scored a penalty.

Mexico got their own penalty with just over 20 minutes left – and Raúl Jiménez was cool as ice as he rolled the ball past Pickford.
The hosts threw everything they had at England’s defence for the rest of the game, but no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t find the equaliser. England held off and secured a famous victory.
Kane in the interview: “A wild fight”
After the end of the match, England went completely crazy in the celebrations. Kane, who had played most of the game and celebrated with his teammates, eventually had to carry out his media duties.
The Bayern Munich striker did his best to speak in the interview with the BBC – but he struggled to express his thoughts as his voice literally failed him.
“It was a wild fight. We had to fight. We had to fight. I’ve just been sitting there… I can’t really talk. The occasion, the team, everything against us… We found a way,” he said.
About the punishment he gave away:
“I thought I got to the ball first. It was one of those days where the referee gave a lot against us. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter – so I’m happy.
Fans in hysterical laughter
Kane, considered one of the greatest English players of all time, also spoke out about Jordan Henderson’s injury and praised the England supporters who travelled to Azteca.
The interview sent football fans straight to the floor with laughter.
One fan wrote:
“This interview has secured the man a knight’s title if he somehow did not already have one in his pocket. What a legend.
Another commented:
“Harry Kane is an absolute hero… Hysterical! Best post-match interview ever. Definitely a future meme!

The way forward
England’s quest for their second World Cup title – and the end of a 60-year trophy drought – continues on Saturday 11 July when they face Norway in Miami Stadium. The match kicks off at 22:00 BST.
Norway beat Brazil 2-1 earlier on Sunday, with two goals from Erling Haaland. Neymar scored for Brazil on a penalty, but it was too little, too late.
A match against Argentina, Egypt, Switzerland or Colombia awaits in the semi-finals for the winner of England-Norway.
