Two days earlier, one of the candidates to take over the job as United manager had sunk Arsenal – at the Emirates. The Spaniard has impressed greatly at Bournemouth with an aggressive and attacking style of play, and with the win over Arsenal at the weekend, he has led the club through a run of 12 games without defeat in the Premier League. Now in 11th place, only three points behind Chelsea in 6th place.
Iraola has since 2023 shown he has cracked the codes in the Premier League, with budgets in a completely different universe than that of United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and the other big clubs. From a position five points away from relegation in the 2022/23 season, Andoni lifted Bournemouth to 12th and 9th place in the last two Premier League seasons.
According to The Athletic , Bournemouth have been working for the past 15 months to convince Iraola to extend his contract that runs until the summer – without success. Now the club reports that Iraola has now closed the door to an extension, where he wants new challenges.
