The dream of Manchester United is over for Ederson and with it the loss of Premier League money in Atalanta’s coffers.
At the beginning of June, there were several reports that Manchester United and Atalanta had agreed on a transfer for 27-year-old Ederson.

Shortly after, the midfielder was called up to Brazil’s World Cup squad, which meant that the transfer was postponed, and the plan was to finalize the matter in July instead. The rumors started circulating after the midfielder underwent an initial medical examination in the United States.
The results of this seem to have complicated things. – In any case, Manchester United withdrew from the deal and informed Atalanta about it shortly after. – Matteo Moretto, a journalist in Marca, claims that Ederson did not take the medical examination, but it has not been confirmed by anyone else.
If the deal had gone through, Ederson would have cost United €40.5 million plus €4.5 million in potential bonuses.
Now the Brazilian has signed a new contract.
The Bergamo club confirms that Ederson has extended his deal. Thus, he remains in Serie A – and the transfer to Old Trafford has been shelved.
Over the years, Ederson has scored 16 goals and provided 6 assists in 180 appearances for Atalanta. Now he continues his adventure in Italian football.
As it stands, we don’t know for sure if the transfer went down the drain due to the results of a medical test or if it was Ederson who refused to dance to Manchester United’s pipe.
