Rosenborg’s super talent Sverre Nypan has been linked to a bunch of big clubs, including Arsenal. With Martin Ødegaard as the indisputable boss in the match arena when the Gunners play, Arsenal supporters have a completely different relationship with Norwegian players. It does not inhibit having a passport for the nation that has been vaccinated against qualifying for the European Championships or World Cup. We therefore follow with great interest whether Arsenal is the club that is investing heavily in bringing Nypan to the ball island.
Arsenal pundit Charles Watts is keeping a close eye on the process and gives some insight into the link between the Gunners and “the Norwegian wonderkid”, as the English describe Nypan.
-Sverre Nypan is a player who has been on the radar of almost all top clubs in Europe in the last year or so. Arsenal are one of those clubs, with some reports from Norway suggesting they are even in pole position to land signing, Watts begins to Caughtoffside.
“I can’t confirm if that’s the case right now, but he’s a player of interest and it would be an exciting addition if they were to get a deal, because the 18-year-old has already shown a special talent with his performances for Rosenborg since his debut at just 15 years old,” the Arsenal insider continues.
“It’s not the type of signing you expect to make an immediate impression in the first team, but it’s the type of signing that Arsenal want to do more of in the future. The club is making a real effort to bring in top talent now at a young age and has set aside some of the transfer budget to do exactly that, Watts explains.
That means that a Nypan signing is highly relevant for Arsenal.
“We saw them bring in goalkeeper Tommy Setford from Ajax last summer as part of that plan, and the signing of Nypan would follow that up, although he would bring far more experience given the amount of games he has already played for Rosenborg,” Charlie Watts says.
Then we’ll see if Nypan himself is ready to be part of the big Arsenal plan.
