Earlier this week, Dani Olmo’s agent went out and confirmed the obvious: “My client wants to play games”. When you’re at the height of your career and coveted by the big clubs, wearing the Barcelona shirt but being refused to play, then it’s obvious that something has to happen. The question now is what Olmo is doing.

Barcelona have once again had their claim to sign Dani Olmo (and Pau Victor) rejected for the rest of the season. La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation have not accepted Barcelona’s attempt to sell VIP boxes at Camp Nou for around 100 million euros in order to secure income to be able to register the two players. The documentation is not said to have arrived until 3 January.

It is expected that Saturday’s decision to deny registration of Olmo and Victor will send Barcelona to court.

As of January 4, the situation is that Barcelona cannot take advantage of the 55 million euro investment, while Olmo can leave the club as a free agent if he wants.

There should be no shortage of offers around the biggest leagues, especially from Premier League clubs.
