The 51-year-old’s previous coaching assignment was at Udinese – where he was sacked after only six games. He has previously coached Al Nassr, Benevento and Guangzhou Evergrande.
As a player, Cannavaro belonged to big clubs such as Real Madrid, Parma, Juventus, Inte and Napoli.
He played 136 international matches with Italy – and won World Cup gold in 2006.
