It’s something that’s happening at Lake Como. After Spanish legend Cesc Fabregas helped lead Como back to Serie A as an assistant and took over the reins this summer, big stars have flocked to the Italian club. Fabregas leverages his network and persuades former star players to take a few seasons under his leadership. The latest Premier League buddy in line is Nemanja Matic.
Rafael Varane went directly from Manchester United to Como, but already realized in August that his legs are no longer able to hold up and retired. Now another former Manchester United giant is on his way to idyllic Lake Como.
Italian Sky Sports reported last week that Fabregas was in contact with his former Chelsea teammate with an invitation to fight for survival in Serie A. Nemanja Matic and Fabregas played together at Stamford Bridge, 2024-17 (Matic wore the United shirt 2017-22).
Fabregas sees no reason to put a lid on the process.
-Matic? He is my friend. So far, it’s just dialogue, so it’s hard to say. But let’s see how the transfer market develops. There are three weeks left,” Fabregas begins to DAZN.
“Right now I’m thinking mostly about my team, which gives everything, I’m very happy and I’m going to go all the way to the end of the world with them,” the Spaniard concludes.
