Leicester has decided to part ways with head coach Steve Cooper following a 1-2 defeat to Chelsea in their most recent Premier League match. However, the “Foxes” have already secured an agreement with a new manager.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to make a quick return to management only weeks after leaving Manchester United.

According to The Telegraph, former interim head coach of Manchester United, Ruud van Nistelrooy, is set to become Leicester’s new manager. The agreement between the parties has been reached, and the paperwork is being finalized with the Dutchman’s camp.

Van Nistelrooy was in charge of the Red Devils for four games on an interim basis following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag.

However, despite his success, the Dutchman was not included in Amorim’s coaching staff. The new head coach, Ruben Amorim, opted against keeping him as one of his assistants when he began his role on November 11.

Ruud van Nistelrooy leading the race to become new Leicester manager

The Dutch legend is set to be appointed as the new manager of Leicester City.

The 2016 Premier League champions are looking for a head coach imminently after sacking Steve Cooper. Cooper was dismissed after just five months in charge after a pathetic start to the season. He left them just one point above the relegation zone.

It will be Van Nistelrooy’s second first-team managerial position, with him having previously managed Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in 2022-23 and guiding them to the KNVB Cup.
