Jim Ratcliffe immediately went to work as the new co-owner of Manchester United to remove all those he defined as unnecessary costs, while the Carrington Training Ground has received a much-needed upgrade and the plan for the hairy project for “Wembley in the North” was given the go-ahead. The first part of the gigantic construction project is now in place.

Manchester United have come a big step closer to plans for a new stadium with a capacity of 100,000 spectators. The Premier League club announced on Monday that they have secured most of the land that will be used for the construction of the new stadium, which is planned to be the UK’s largest sports arena.

The club has bought an area of 25 acres – equivalent to around 10 hectares – from the real estate company Indurent. The area is located about 350 meters northwest of the current Old Trafford. Thus, one of the most important pieces in the stadium project has fallen into place.
United report the new stadium as the turning point in a comprehensive development of the Old Trafford area. At the same time, Manchester United states that more details about the stadium project and the formal consultation process will be published on July 9.
