There is only paperwork left for Casemiro, who tearfully said goodbye to Manchester United a couple of days ago before he is an Inter Miami player.
Brazilian star Casemiro is on his way to Major League Soccer and Inter Miami. There he will be teammates with Lionel Messi – and the transfer is already in the box, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Casemiro will leave Manchester United after his contract expired at the end of June. Thus, he goes to David Beckham’s club in Florida for free – a transfer that marks the end of an era in Europe and the start of a new chapter in his career.
Inter Miami has in recent seasons brought in a large number of stars from European clubs. Jordi Alba, Luis Suárez, Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets are already in place. Now they are joined by one of football’s most decorated midfielders.
The road so far: From São Paulo to world stars
Casemiro started his career at São Paulo, where he quickly emerged as a defensive midfielder with an exceptional ability to read the game. In 2013, he was brought to Real Madrid, and it was there that he truly became a world star.
During his years at Madrid, he helped win a total of five Champions League titles – three of them in a row between 2016 and 2018. Together with Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos, he formed a midfield that is remembered as one of the best of all time. He also won La Liga three times, the Copa del Rey and a number of other trophies.
In 2022, he made the move to Manchester United in a transfer worth around £70 million. There he quickly became a leading figure, and he helped win the League Cup in 2023. But United struggled to find stability – until Michael Carrick took over.
Masterful season under Carrick
Under Michael Carrick’s leadership, United really got the points going, and Casemiro set the tone. With his vast experience and ability to break the opponents’ attacks, he gave the team backbone and confidence.
He finished his final season in England with sparkling performances and still showed that he belongs at the very highest level. Nevertheless, United chose to let the contract expire – and thus Inter Miami could strike without paying a transfer fee.
Now Miami awaits – and Messi
At Inter Miami, Casemiro is joined by a number of former teammates and rivals. But no one weighs more heavily than Lionel Messi. Together, the two form a core of experience, quality and will to win that can lift the entire league.
For Casemiro, the transfer is not just about money or sun. It’s about ending your career in a way that few others can match – with sunshine, stars and the chance to make history in a growing league.
And with Messi on the team, the adventure in Miami could be even bigger than anyone could have imagined.
Casemiro is one of those selected to join Brazil for the World Cup. – He was in the starting eleven of national team manager Carlo Ancelotti in Saturday’s 3-0 thrashing of Haiti.
