There are two Norwegian players in place at Benfica, Fredrik Aursnes who has been with the Portuguese club since 2022 and Andreas Schelderup who came from FC Nordsjælland in 2023.

After Jose Mourinho was brought to the club almost a year ago, things seemed to go completely wrong for the Norwegian 21-year-old right winger, but then Andreas Schelderup has convinced everyone with fantastic play, from national team manager Ståle Solbakken to his own manager.

“Tottenham can win five Premier League games in a row”

Summer is approaching and clubs with disappointing results are looking for new managers, among them, Real Madrid who José Mourinho coached Real Madrid 13 years ago. According to Record, a return in the summer could be relevant.

Temporary solution Álvaro Arbeloa, who was given the chance after Xabi Alonso’s departure from Real Madrid, will with a high degree of certainty not get renewed confidence.

The Athletic has previously highlighted four names as potential successors to the coaching position at “Los Blancos”. These are Jürgen Klopp, Didier Deschamps, Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane.

According to Record, however, there is another, well-known alternative. The Portuguese newspaper states in its Sunday edition that José Mourinho is in the running for a return to Real Madrid.

Mourinho managed “Los Blancos” from 2010 to 2013 and won a league title as well as a cup title during his time at the club. The information claims that the Portuguese is one of the coaching names that club president Florentino Pérez is considering.

José Mourinho’s experience and previous knowledge of the club are highlighted as reasons why a return to the Santiago Bernabéu could be possible for the coach.

The Portuguese is currently a coach at Benfica and has previously been in charge of Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Manchester United, Tottenham, Roma and Fenerbahçe.

Andreas Schelderup, who according to Transfermarkt has more than doubled his value since landing at Benfica, is on Jose Mourinho’s wish list if he goes to the Spanish capital.

Mourinho is not alone as a candidate, however, he has a contract until the summer of 2027 and may have to be bought free, rumoured to cost Real Madrid 15 million euros. Wants to bring back Zinedine Zidane and make him one of the world’s highest-paid managers
