The group of players learned that Andreas Hagen had been fired in the locker room after the win against HamKam on May 16. Andreas Hagen came in as an assistant coach for the club under Mikkjal Thomassen in 2023. Before that, Hagen had been a player for the club in 2019 and for a couple of months into 2020.
When Mikkjal Thomassen left the club for Swedish AIK in July 2024, Hagen took over as head coach. His contract was scheduled to last until 2027.
Plankebyen has ambitions that do not fit with 10th place on the Eliteserie table.

Kevin Nicol takes over FFK – will lead the team until a new coach is in place
Kevin Nicol will steer the Fredrikstad ship until the club has found a new permanent head coach.
Nicol comes from the head coach job in Mjøndalen, a club he has been at since Mjøndalen was in the Eliteserien in 2020 and 2021. – Before that, he managed Asker, which I think still plays division football.
– Fredrikstad is an incredibly exciting club with great ambitions. I know the club, the stadium and the city a bit from my time as a coach in both Mjøndalen and Asker. It feels absolutely fantastic to become part of this environment – and not least to be part of the journey we are now going to embark on, says Nicol to the club’s own website.
On Monday, the news came that Andreas Hagen was fired as head coach. He had to go after several losses at the very start of the season. Now it is the Scotsman who will clean up.

Fredriksstad Blad has learned that Danish Carsper Røjkjær is the favorite to take over the coaching chair at the stadium. He is an assistant coach in Nordsjælland, which on Sunday ended the Superliga season in Denmark in third place.
