Argentina in the semi-final against England used the same tactics as cooking a live frog. Slowly, completely unnoticed, you increase the temperature until the “opponent” is cooked.
While Julian Alvarez, somewhat in the shadow of Lionel Messi, is hailed as a hero, England’s national team manager Thomas Tuchel gets a failing grade at home on the ball island. – The Argentine, who already has a World Cup title under his belt, is worth €100 million, according to Transfermarkt, a sum that does not tempt Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal could sacrifice Viktor Gyökeres in spectacular swap
Viktor Gyökeres gave Arsenal something they had long missed at the top. 14 Premier League goals may not be sensational, but the Swede was an invaluable piece when Martin Ødegaard was finally able to lift the league trophy for Arsenal. Now the Gunners will take the next step – and that could mean that the international striker falls victim to the club’s grandiose ambitions.
According to The Independent, the Arsenal management hopes and believes that they can secure Julian Alvarez before pre-season. The Argentine is not said to be averse to a move to the Emirates, although he reportedly prefers either Real Madrid or Barcelona. But Arsenal are living in hope – especially after the Atletico Madrid management has made it crystal clear that a sale to the Spanish giants is completely out of the question.
Now, English talkSport reports that Arsenal are considering putting Gyökeres in a swap plus money for Alvarez – a move that will “soften” the stubborn Atletico lead.
It will be tough, manager Diego Simeone made the trip to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium to show Julian Alvarez how important he is, an added bonus of course that he scored the match-winner against England two minutes into injury time.
TalkSport’s Andy Brassell delivers a scathing analysis:
“Arsenal’s interest in Alvarez goes back further than Barcelona’s, so it’s completely logical that they reappear. Arsenal brought in their own nine, and I think Viktor Gyökeres is sometimes seen in the wrong way – as the guy who is going to take them to the next level. In a way, he did just that, by offering them something different – but not by being the world’s best striker. Now we are moving into Alvarez’s territory. He is a player who can really lead a team.
Brassell continues:
“He has heart and soul. He gives everything in every single game, runs an incredible amount, can create chances on his own, score from the box, score from long range – and set up teammates. That’s exactly why so many managers want him.
