After two years at Lech Poznan in Poland and a guest appearance at Olympiakos, it was time for MLS and the “Messi League” in 2025. There have been a very solid 11 goals and 10 assists in 38 games in a Portland Timbers shirt. This week, the 27-year-old gets an extra recognition for his achievements.
Kristoffer Velde has been named MLS team of Matchday on March 25. The Timbers fought their way to a 2-2 draw against St. Louis City SC at Providence Park on Wednesday night, and Velde equalized the game with beautiful free-kick goals in both the 32nd and 89th minutes to salvage a point at home.

In the last five games, Velde has led the way with 4 goals and 3 assists. His two goals against St. Louis City SC marked Velde’s third and fourth goals from outside the sixteen-yard box this season, which is the fourth-most in MLS.
