Daniele de Rossi returned as coach to Roma in January 2024, the club he had loyally served for a wild 616 games. Eight months after De Rossi replaced Mourinho, the owners of the Friedkin Group also tapped out the club legend. De Rossi’s replacement was given two months in the job. For the Italian legend, this was probably a wake-up call. Now he takes control himself.

In the first games after Mourinho was sacked, Daniele de Rossi came in as a savior. The former Roma star led the club to the semi-finals of the Europa League, a solid 6th place in Serie A – and was rewarded with a contract extension in June until 2027. Three months, the Roma management fires the same man.

De Rossi returned to his “roots” as a coach when he accepted the move to Roma. On Friday, it became known that he is going back even further.

On Instagram, De Rossi announces he has bought his childhood club Ostiamare, where he played youth football before his transfer to Roma. The club is currently in 14th place in the fourth best division in Italy, Serie D.

“My goal is to build a solid, transparent and innovative community as a means of bringing people together, promoting community values and bringing families closer to their area,” writes new club owner De Rossi.

The Italian wants to get back to “the real”, we love it!
