Mo Salah is not going quietly out of the gate at Anfield. Liverpool’s 3rd highest scoring player ever has said what he thinks about Arne Slot football and made it clear to supporters that he worries about the club’s future if they don’t change course. Although the 33-year-old has played an extra role this season, it is clear Liverpool need to secure a replacement who can fill the shoes of the goal guarantor who will walk out of Anfield this summer. There is a lot of betting on this player being brought in from the Bundesliga.

Ever since Mohamed Salah’s departure was confirmed in March, rumours about the Egyptian’s replacement have been rife. One name that has been mentioned many times as Liverpool’s preferred option is Yan Diomande, 19. The Ivorian has impressed greatly for his RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga and has recorded 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 games during the season.

But Liverpool rumours have calmed down lately, and at the end of April, Bild reported that there was a lot of talk that the winger would stay in Germany.

Now The Athletic journalist David Ornstein comes with new information. He reports that Diomande still tops Liverpool’s list of Salah replacements, and that the Premier League giant is well positioned to get a signing through. The club must be in talks with the player’s representatives, and if an agreement is reached, talks with RB Leipzig will be next. The Germans are expected to demand over 100 million euros.

Last summer, Liverpool spent around €137 million for Bundesliga star Florian Wirtz, this summer it is Diomande’s turn to be brought from the Bundesliga to Anfield.
