Xabi Alonso signed for Chelsea, Arne Slot was fired in June, the following week Andoni Iraola has signed as the new Liverpool manager. This is a short summary of a long story over the past six months. Iraola has completed his spell at Bournemouth and leaves the club in very good condition with a historic Europa League ticket. At his first meeting with Anfield as Liverpool manager, the Spaniard talks about his relationship with the iconic stadium.

Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium has a capacity of just over 11,000 spectators, while Anfield can seat around 61,000. Iraola is looking forward to having so many Liverpool fans behind him at Anfield. He thinks back in particular to the opening game of the season, when Liverpool won 4-2 over Bournemouth.

New Liverpool manager Iraola knows how important Anfield is to the club

“I’ve been on the other side myself. I still remember the goal that Federico Chiesa scored at the end of the first game of the season. We stood there with the feeling that we might get something out of the game at the score of 2-2. Then he scored, and the whole stadium exploded. It was crazy, wasn’t it? Now I want to experience it from the other side,” Iraola begins to his new club’s website.

“When you come to a new club, I feel that you have to prove yourself a little bit first. You have to earn your place. I want to do it as soon as possible so I can celebrate things with the fans and really be a part of those moments and celebrations,” Liverpool’s new manager said.

We look forward to seeing a Liverpool with the charismatic Spaniard on the sidelines – and his almost “full throttle football” to Klopp.
