After the bosses at Old Trafford kept Mason Greenwood out of all football for over a year after he was acquitted of all charges, it is perceived as strange that they are now going to profit big from the fact that the English right winger in the exit has found his way back to super form.
But, the way the world is now, there is a lot that is undeserved.

Mason Greenwood’s next transfer ‘confirmed’ by club president
Manchester United are finally reaping the benefits after Mason Greenwood has reached a four-year deal to leave Marseille.
Greenwood joined Marseille in 2024 for a transfer fee of £26.6 million, after United decided it was “best for him” to continue his career elsewhere.
His permanent move to the Ligue 1 club came after a loan spell at Getafe.
Liverpool have made up their minds – not sell “the new king of Anfield” to Bayern Munich
48 goals in 81 games
In two seasons, the 24-year-old has scored 48 times in 81 appearances for Marseille. However, it was reported that his relationship with the club broke down, and Greenwood was apparently made available for transfer if the price was right.
AS Roma and Fenerbahce were immediately linked with strong interest in Greenwood, and it looks as though the latter is about to secure his services.
Both presidential candidates vying to lead the Turkish giants, Aziz Yıldırım and Hakan Safi, have made no secret of their desire to sign Greenwood.
“We have signed a four-year agreement”
In fact, Safi claims that personal terms have already been agreed with Greenwood.
“We have signed a four-year deal with Mason Greenwood,” he said.
“He has proven himself at the highest level of European football. He has agreed to join Fenerbahce in the most valuable and productive years of his career.
“I said I was going to bring in a star player. Today I experience the well-deserved pride of keeping my promise.
How Greenwood’s Fenerbahce transfer affects Manchester United
When United sold Greenwood two years ago, they made sure to include a 50 percent resale clause in his contract.
According to journalist Chris Winterburn, the deal was for United to take half of the profits on bids over the £26.6 million paid by Marseille.
Marseille are set to demand a minimum of £43 million for Greenwood, which would amount to a profit of around £17 million. If true, United could cash in around £8 million from the impending transfer.
However, other reports claim that United will take half of the entire transfer fee – which would give them more than £20 million.
“We are considering his future carefully
Fenerbahce and Marseille have not yet reached an agreement on the transfer fee, but Marseille’s sporting director Gregory Lorenzi confirmed that the club are open to bids.
In an interview with L’Équipe, Lorenzi said:
“He (Greenwood) is one of the players we are really considering in terms of their future. If an opportunity arises, we will of course consider it.
“But it’s the club’s position – and the player’s. It is also up to us to handle the situation internally to find the best possible solution for all parties.
The background to the Greenwood exit
Greenwood’s departure from United came as a result of his arrest in 2022. The attacker was later charged with attempted murder, controlling and coercive behavior, as well as bodily harm.
After he vehemently denied all the charges, the British Public Prosecutor’s Office (CPS) dropped the case against him after key witnesses withdrew from the case, and new material emerged.
United opened an internal investigation, but released a statement saying it was mutually agreed that it “would be most appropriate” for Greenwood to continue his playing career away from Old Trafford.
