Okay, Wayne Rooney has gone from being a sullen world star, to a failed coach, to now becoming a media man. The English football icon therefore knows what makes headlines when he opens his mouth to the BBC, Sky Sports, or the others who are ready with the microphone. But this particular statement about Norway, or the promise from Rooney, we just had to include.

Now Brazil awaits Norway in the round of 16 at MetLIfeStadium in New Jersey, Rooney does not have much faith in the Norwegian team, but has taken on board, the annoying rowing for the opponents.
“If Norway makes it to the quarter-finals, I’m going to go to the River Mersey and row it,” Rooney said dryly to the BBC after the game.
When this is the river that runs through Liverpool city, then we understand that the Manchester United legend sees it as impossible for Norway to win.
