It’s no secret that Manchester United have been following Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen for a while, but given the money that owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to save, he has become too expensive even after the sale price is down due to his poor relationship with his club Napoli.
However, there is an opening. Now, British journalist Graeme Bailey states that Napoli are open to releasing the 26-year-old this summer and could consider doing so in a swap deal.
There are mainly two players mentioned as relevant in such a deal from Manchester United. Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund, who Napoli are said to be interested in. The former was linked with a move to the Serie A club in January.
In addition to interest from Manchester United, Osimhen is said to have attracted interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, among others.
The striker is on loan from Napoli to Galatasaray this season, where he has scored 17 goals and provided five assists in 23 games. In the Napoli shirt, he has scored 76 goals and 17 assists in 133 games.
His contract expires in the summer of 2026.
Manchester United’s current attacking duo, Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, have a combined five goals in the Premier League this season.
