Arsenal should and must secure a reinforcement on the wing, a reinforcement that gives the reigning Premier League champions contributions to compete for – and take the biggest trophies in the 2026/27 season. Vinicius Jr. has been the top target in recent weeks, with Antonio Nusa reported to be at the top of their wish list if Real Madrid manage to persuade the Brazilian to extend his contract that expires next summer. Now it is reported that Nusa is moving further up the candidate list.

The reigning Premier League champions will secure a reinforcement in attack, which is an “attacking weapon” in itself. Vinicius Jr. is what the Arsenal management has though Antonio Nusa is the same. Players who go directly to the goal create chances out of nothing – and are often responsible for the finish themselves.

According to Caughtoffside’s sources , Antonio Nusa stands as an alternative to a Vinicius Jr. signing, along with such players as Christian Pulisic, Ibrahim Mbaye and Brahim Díaz: “The shortlist offers a mix of immediate experience, long-term potential and tactical versatility. Arsenal must now decide whether they want a ready-made star, or a younger player who can develop within Arteta’s system,” writes the English media.

Adding: “Sources close to the agent industry have informed CaughtOffside that RB Leipzig winger Nusa is currently at the top of Arsenal’s alternative shortlist. The Gunners are expected to investigate Leipzig’s demands before deciding whether to make a formal inquiry.”

At the top of the list if Vinicius Jr. signing goes down the drain. On Wednesday and Thursday, reports are pouring in about Vinicius Jr.

Spanish reporter Ramon Alvarez de Mon claims on Thursday morning that a deal has now been struck that will see Vinicius sign a contract extension at the Bernabéu, thus ending Arsenal’s hopes: “Vinicius and Real Madrid have reached a contract renewal agreement, which is expected to be signed soon.”
