Barcelona, who are about to win La Liga over arch-rivals Real Madrid, prefer to keep João Cancelo over Marcus Rashford.

The two players are currently on loan at Camp Nou.

Barcelona are now planning for the summer transfer window – especially when it comes to attack. Norwegian striker Alexander Sørloth is on manager Hansi Flick’s wish list.

A recent report from La Vanguardia says that the club’s priority is to try and give Lamine Yamal more support, after feeling that he has been too isolated in attack this season.

Julián Álvarez remains the club’s number one attacking priority with Alexander Sorloth being a far more affordable option, as Robert Lewandowski is expected to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

There is also uncertainty about Ferrán Torres’ future, although the report states that Barca want to keep him – “albeit below Julián Álvarez in status” – and that he is a “very popular player in Barcelona’s dressing room.”

Bad news for Marcus Rashford

For Marcus Rashford, however, it is bad news. The Manchester United player has put up good numbers since he arrived, but the report adds that Barca will not keep him. The reason is that the club has other priorities and “cannot afford his salary”.

In fact, it is instead stated that Barcelona prefer to sign João Cancelo permanently, after his impressive performances since he arrived on loan in January.
