Chelsea are likely to accept bids for Enzo Fernández this summer, as he has become increasingly unhappy.

As first reported in the Daily Briefing, the Argentine is ideally a player the Blues want to keep, but there is also an acknowledgement that he is not happy.

There is also genuine interest from Real Madrid, as the Spanish giant has long been on the hunt for that type of midfielder.

Fernández is now emerging as an option for Los Blancos, and he himself will also be keen to explore this option if possible. As always, however, a deal is needed between the clubs, and Chelsea are unlikely to let the former Benfica player go for a cheap price.

What is said about Enzo Fernández’s transfer to Real Madrid

After speaking to a number of well-placed sources in the industry, there is clearly a perception that Chelsea are prepared to let Fernández leave if the price is right.

As previously reported, CFC have also already begun work on replacing the 25-year-old, although it will not be easy for them to beat back the competition from the two Manchester clubs for Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson.

“There has been uncertainty around Enzo for a while,” a source said. “Chelsea would rather not sell, but they have now come to a point where they have to accept big offers, because it is simply not worth keeping a disgruntled player.”

“There haven’t been any direct talks yet, but obviously Enzo has gotten wind of Madrid’s interest and he seems eager to explore that possibility,” another source said.

Should Chelsea let Enzo Fernández leave?

Fernández is one of the big faces in this Chelsea project, after he arrived in an exciting, expensive transfer from Benfica a few years ago.

Still, it might be fair to say that overall he’s been somewhat disappointing, and if he’s not happy, it might be a good time to accept his departure and find a replacement who can do a better job anyway.

Chelsea fans are likely to have mixed feelings about this, as it has taken them so long to build this squad, and therefore they are unlikely to want to see more upheaval this summer.

It also surely depends on which other players are realistically available in the months to come. Some like Anderson appear to be somewhat unrealistic, while others like Adam Wharton will undoubtedly also have many suitors.
