The teams are ready for the huge match in Budapest

The entire football world’s eyes are on Puskás Aréna in Budapest when the 2026 edition of the Champions League final is to be played.

Just days before the attention turns to the World Cup, newly crowned Premier League champions Arsenal will finally win the tournament – and at the same time prevent PSG from defending the trophy.

The Gunners got rid of the ghosts of three straight silverware finishes as they secured their first Premier League title in 22 years at the weekend. Now they want to go one step further than they managed 20 years ago, when they were beaten by Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain have treated Ligue 1 as their personal playground and collected 12 of the last 14 domestic league titles. Their relationship with Europe, on the other hand, has historically been marked by heartbreak.

All this changed last year, when they finally conquered the continent. Tonight, Luis Enrique’s team stands on the brink of football’s immortality. They look set to become only the third club – after Real Madrid and AC Milan – to be able to defend their title.

Remarkably, this will be the first major European final ever between clubs from France and England. Here’s how they pose:

PSG line-up

Right-back Achraf Hakimi and left-back Nuno Mendes were both doubtful for the game due to injury, but both start for PSG.

Striker Ousmane Dembélé has stated that he is fully healthy, after he was substituted already in the first half in the 2-1 loss to Paris FC on May 17.

It is a formidable team PSG field!

PSG’s XI: Safonov, Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, João Neves, Fabián Ruiz, Doué, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia.

Arsenal line-up

Kai Havertz starts up top, while Viktor Gyökeres is just sitting on the bench – as does Eberechi Eze.

Myles Lewis-Skelly starts in midfield after he impressed in both semi-final clashes.

Winger Noni Madueke suffered a hamstring problem during Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, but he is on the bench. So is right-back Jurriën Timber, who has been out since March with a groin injury.

Defender Ben White is out with a long-term knee injury.

Arsenal’s XI: Raya, Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapié, Rice, Lewis-Skelly, Saka, Ødegaard, Trossard, Havertz.

PSG v Arsenal: Statistics for the 2025/26 Champions League Final

  • PSG is the first French club to reach three finals in the tournament, and the first to reach finals in two straight seasons. Last season, they became the second French team to win the tournament, after Marseille’s triumph in 1992/93.
  • They are the first reigning champions to reach the Champions League final since Real Madrid did so in 2016/17 and 2017/18 – both seasons ending with Real Madrid advancing to win the title.
  • Last season, they knocked out Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal in the last eight, quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively. This season, they have beaten Chelsea and Liverpool in the last eight and quarter-finals.
  • The French champions have lost one of their last 12 European matches against English opponents (9 wins and 2 draws), and two of their last 17 games in the play-offs (13 wins and 2 draws).
  • One more goal will see PSG match the record for a single season from the group stage or league stage to the final – a record set by Barcelona with 45 goals in 1999/2000.
  • The club from the French capital has never played 0-0 in the playoffs – this applies to 64 games in a row.
  • Luis Enrique could become the fifth manager to win the title more than twice. Carlo Ancelotti has five, while Bob Paisley, Zinédine Zidane and Pep Guardiola have three each.
