Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko has confirmed that AlphaTauri is in for some big changes. Including that the band will change its name in 2024.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has confirmed that big changes are on the horizon for the AlphaTauri Formula 1 team. This means Red Bull’s sister program is gearing up for another rebrand in 2024. “AlphaTauri” was the name given when the manufacturer changed its name from Toro Rosso in 2020, but this season is their last under that moniker.
Despite AlphaTauri being closely associated with Austrian energy drink giant Red Bull, it has gained more independence in recent years. The team took on increasing responsibility for designing its own parts and cars. There is no official statement from the band yet on what their name will be. The news of another metamorphosis caused outrage among many fans. Many loyal F1 fans have criticized the system that allows owners to own more than one team.
AlphaTauri will disappear with just one win in four years of operation. While Red Bull’s sister plan struggled for prominence in F1, Max Verstappen became a dominant force in the sport. Only his teammate Sergio Perez is the only driver to win a race this year, so it’s no wonder AlphaTauri has moved away from the same winning model. Sharing parts and designs between teams is strictly prohibited, but you can bet Red Bull will test these limits by trying to help a family member.
