It was a miserable return to England for the Portuguese manager, as AC Milan lost 3-0 to Bournemouth in the Europa League.
Justin Kluivert gave Marco Rose’s side an early lead from the penalty spot, before goals from Marcus Tavernier and Amine Adli completed a convincing victory for the Premier League club.
The result means that Amorim – who were sacked at Manchester United in January this year after a turbulent period of 14 months – are still without a win in four games against Bournemouth.
In fact, one of his previous results was ridiculed by the home fans on Thursday night.

Amorim laughed at the “it’s happened again” song
Back in December 2024, Bournemouth won 3-0 over a tame United at Old Trafford, with goals from Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo.
That match is clearly well remembered by many supporters. Shortly after Adli put in a magnificent free-kick from distance, shouts of “Ruben Amorim, it’s happened again” rang out around the stadium.
However, Amorim found the comic in it and could be seen laughing on the sidelines. Bournemouth supporters even applauded the opposing manager for taking it in good spirits, according to the BBC’s Nizaar Kinsella.
Here’s how fans on social media reacted to the scenes:
One wrote: “The Bournemouth supporters singing ‘Ruben Amorim it’s happened again’ are killing me”, and another commented: “Amorim laughing at the Bournemouth shouts hahahahaha.”
A third said: “Amorim is so funny, why is he smiling at the shouts? He’s down against Bournemouth,” while a fourth added: “Bournemouth supporters are singing ‘Ruben Amorim, it’s happened again’ and he’s standing there smiling. He’s a first-class provocateur.”
Amorim mentioned Manchester United before kick-off – says he has “found peace” with the experience
Ahead of Thursday’s game, Amorim explained why he feels like a better coach after leaving Manchester United.
“Since I left Manchester United, I’ve obviously been through a different period and situation in my life,” he told TNT Sports.
“I feel like a better coach, not because I have changed clubs, but because I have found peace with my previous experience, and I am very excited about this new experience at AC Milan.”
Amorim added, “When you start a new journey, you can find the right calm and move forward. That’s why I’m grateful for everything that’s happened: it’s brought me here, and today I’m really happy.”
