Saturday’s win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge sent Manchester United a good step closer to a Champions League ticket. The loser Chelsea is now 10 points behind in 6th place and the “first CL loser place”, Brentford on the same score. Now United supporters are asking the big question: How many wins does the club need in the last five games to secure one of the Champions League tickets?

“Manchester United only need two wins!” The maximum number of points Chelsea can get from their remaining five games is 15. With current form, it’s unlikely, but even if they secure all 15, if Manchester United earn six more points, Chelsea can’t overtake.”
“Man Utd with two more wins: 64 points. Chelsea with five more wins: 63 points. The same goes for Brentford, who are now level on points with Chelsea.”
“Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea have now lost four Premier League games in a row and the chances of them winning five in a row are slim. They may not even get the 10 points they need to take United’s current total. Chelsea play Brighton away on Tuesday night (21 April) and if they drop points there, United’s task becomes even easier: win one more game and a win over Brentford will also put an end to their hopes.”
“As it stands, Manchester United know that no matter what Chelsea do, just six points from the remaining five games will secure Champions League qualification.”
