It was a successful tournament for Stan Wawrinka. Although the Swiss was eliminated in the third round, he made history in the event. Stan Wawrinka became the oldest winner of a US Open 2nd round match since Jimmy Connors in 1992.

Stan Wawrinka is 38 years old. In 2016, he became the champion of the US Open. At this year’s edition of the tournament, he became the oldest tennis player who won the first two rounds of the tournament and advanced to the third round of the US Open.

Unfortunately, the Swiss lost in the third round to Jannik Sinner. One thing is certain though. The Swiss looks better than in recent months. So we keep our fingers crossed for the rest of his season.

-I have never forgotten why I started playing tennis and what I dreamed about when I was young. Play the US Open, play those Grand Slams, big tournaments, ATP tournaments, to be there. I’m happy to still be able to play at this level. I know where I am now. I know I can beat some really good players. I can be really competitive. I move well. The most important thing for me is to keep going, to go in the right direction. The last few months have been better every week with more wins and more confidence in what I’m doing. Hopefully I can keep pushing and get some good results before the end of the year. – Wawrinka said at US Open.
