Stan Wawrinka is a 38-year-old Swiss tennis player who is the Olympic doubles champion from Beijing, the winner of the 2014 Australian Open, the 2015 French Open and the 2016 US Open in the singles competition. Now you could watch him in the ATP tournament in Basel. The Swiss shared the news about the end of his career.
This season, the tennis player from Lausanne, who won 16 titles in his career, reached the final in Umag, something he had not achieved since 2019. Although he can still provide fans with great emotions thanks to his great plays, he is already thinking about retirement.
“I’m nearing the end of my career, but I don’t feel old. I get so much support at all the tournaments I go to around the world which is one of the reasons I keep playing. I hope to continue, I don’t know how long time. I had four incredible years with Grand Slam victories and a Masters 1000. I beat the world number one three times in Grand Slam finals, an incredible part of my career. One of my best experiences was at the Olympic Games of 2008 in the doubles match with Roger Federer. Being in the Olympic village with the Swiss delegation and winning the gold medal was a seminal experience.” – Said Wawrinka at the press conference.
