Brentford are doing much better in the Premier League than expected by the vast majority of experts before the season. One important reason: Norwegian Kristoffer Vassbakk Ajer!
Ajer is a given in Brentford’s starting eleven. A defensive rock through ninety minutes in all Premier League games, before Saturday’s game Brentford stood with Ajer as the defensive general without a loss.
On Saturday there was an away game against Aston Villa at Villa Park, here Villa’s home supporters got to experience the same thing as Portugal’s supporters in Lisbon: An Ajer who is not content with stopping strikers – when will he also take their job.

Ajer saved points for Brentford – scored again
The Norwegian, who scored an extremely beautiful goal in Norway’s Nations League match against Portugal, found his way to goal for the second game in a row. With the Brentford shirt on, Ajer showed off his quick footwork, and in a pointed fashion, he knocked the ball into the goal! It is the Norwegian’s first Premier League goal since March 30, 2024.
However, it was the fourth goal of the game. Yegor Yarmolyuk, Nicolas Jackson and John McGinn had all previously got on the scoresheet.
Thus, Ajer secured 2-2 and one point for Brentford. Thus, the Norwegian national team star’s club is in a strong fourth place in the Premier League with 10 points from six games, still without a loss. Awesome!
