In October 2025, Uwe Rösler was brought in as a rescuer in the 2. Bundesliga. The former Lillestrøm and Viking coach had spent the last few years in Danish football, now the energetic German was going to pump in optimism, the right mentality and the right football to ensure that Bochum did not take another direct relegation. Seven months later, the proud club has received exactly what they ordered from Rösler.

Bocchum supporters have throughout the winter seen their coach – always wearing shorts – create an energy in the players that has driven important points and victories. When Rösler was brought in as the new coach, the club was firmly on course for safe relegation from the German second division, with three poor points from seven games.

On Sunday, Bocchum took the necessary points with a 2-1 win against Greuther Fürth to survive in the 2. Bundesliga. Mission accomplished! For a club that was in the Bundesliga 2024/25 season, another relegation would have been heavy to bear going forward.

“It was an extremely difficult situation to get into. Great credit to the players and staff who have fully embraced the necessary changes. I’m really relieved to have helped this iconic football club stay in the league,” Rösler begins to the club’s website.

Before he raises his eyes to the coming season and further climbing.

“Now we have to look ahead, and the recruitment department has an important and busy summer ahead of it,” concludes a very satisfied and very aggressive Uwe Rösler.

Congratulations!
