Tottenham can now secure one of Europe’s brightest attacking talents this summer – and shockingly, it’s a player with roots in arch-rivals Arsenal!
Spurs’ wild summer shopping is far from over. De Zerbi are chasing another striker
Roberto De Zerbi has every reason to smile after the reinforcements so far, but with only three weeks left until the transfer window closes, the Italian is desperately looking to strengthen his attacking line.
Manchester City’s Savinho has already agreed to personal terms, but De Zerbi also wants a striker who can challenge Richarlison and Dominic Solanke. The latter was recently hailed as “one of the Premier League’s best strikers” by the Tottenham boss himself – but an ankle injury kept him out against Getafe, and now there is uncertainty over his availability for the opening game against Brentford in just 10 days!
Mr Balogun has said yes!
And here comes the bombshell: According to Foot Mercato , Monaco striker Folarian Balogun has given Tottenham the green light to sign him!
The 25-year-old American was sold from Arsenal to Monaco for £35 million in August 2023 – after just 10 first-team appearances for the Gunners. Since then, he has exploded and is now considered one of Europe’s best strikers. 44 goal points in 91 games for the French, including 19 goals last season.
Balogun followed up by banging in three goals in the World Cup before the USA were eliminated by Belgium in the last eight – and that after FIFA reversed a red card fine! Now he can return to the Premier League – but this time in the shirt of Arsenal’s arch-enemies .
£51 million – and talks ongoing!
Monaco have priced their star striker at €60 million , and according to journalist Santi Aouna, Balogun has already become De Zerbi’s top priority. So far, no formal offer has been made, but talks between the clubs are ongoing – and the possibility of him signing for Spurs is increasing by the hour.
“He’s one of our players. I know he’s going to get a lot of offers,” said Monaco’s new boss Filipe Luis.
“He’s a special player. You won’t find many with his characteristics on the market. If he stays, I’ll be very, very happy.”
