– Roberto De Zerbi can beat his arch-enemies in the battle for “the world’s best striker”
Tottenham Hotspur should consider selling two of their own attackers to fund a transfer for Victor Osimhen – and at the same time beat arch-enemies Arsenal in the race for the Nigerian.
A new striker has been at the top of his wish list all summer. Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi was considered, but the young Frenchman suffered a foot injury during pre-season, and Spurs have reportedly decided to wait until next year to invest in him.

However, that does not mean that a new striker is out of the question. On the contrary, Tottenham have been linked with several options, and one of them is surprisingly on the radar of arch-enemies Arsenal.
Victor Osimhen on his way to the Premier League?
Arsenal are heavily linked with Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, his name has popped up in talks between the clubs. The Nigerian is referred to by many as “the world’s best striker” and has long been predicted to have a future in the Premier League.
Ben Jacobs revealed in the latest episode of GIVEMESPORT’s “Market Madness” that both transfer fees and salaries can be a challenge. But Spurs have already shown that they are willing to spend money this summer – they recently broke their own transfer record when they signed Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for £100m.

Osimhen is the type of striker Tottenham have been longing for since Harry Kane left the club. He’s not just a goalscorer – his versatility, speed and physical strength make him a nightmare for defenders. Hijacking him in front of Arsenal would be a double victory for De Zerbi and Tottenham fans.
Why Spurs have to sell to afford it
The problem is the economy. A transfer for Osimhen would require huge sums of money, and Tottenham will probably have to reduce their wage costs first. Two names stand out:
Richarlison – 29 years old, signed from Everton for £60 million in 2022. Has had an up-and-down period at Spurs, and with one year left on his contract (£90,000 a week), he is a candidate for sale.
Dominic Solanke – 28 years old, signed from Bournemouth for £65 million in 2024. Has struggled with injuries and missed 21 league games last season. Earns £140,000 a week and the club may be willing to let him go.
Together, the duo are worth around £115 million – just enough to fund a bargain of Osimhen’s calibre. Now it remains to be seen whether Spurs dare to take the necessary steps.
