Besiktas, who last won the Süper Lig in the 2020/2021 season, have in many ways stood idle, while other Turkish clubs such as Galatasaray and Fenerbache have become stronger.

Jorginho has an expiring contract with Arsenal. The Italian midfielder has belonged to the Gunners since January 2023 and has served as a team player without becoming a regular part of Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven.

Now, Turkish website Sabah states that Besiktas want to sign the Italian on a transfer when the 32-year-old’s contract expires in the summer or cheap in January.

According to the website, the Turkish club’s sporting management is in contact with Jorginho’s representatives and is said to be close to convincing the midfielder to continue his career in Istanbul.

Jorginho has previously represented clubs such as Chelsea, Napoli and Greece Verona. Meanwhile at Chelsea, the midfielder won the Champions League in 2021 and was named Europe’s best player by Uefa the same year.

This season, Jorginho has seven appearances for Arsenal.
