After the unforgettable 5-4 thriller in Paris, both Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are ready for another epic battle for a place in the Budapest final – where Arsenal FC already awaits.
May 31 marks one year since PSG won the club’s first Champions League title with a 5-0 victory over Inter. Now, Luis Enrique and his team return to the Allianz Arena, determined to take the final step towards their second straight final. In their way is a Bayern Munich that is ready to turn things around after last Tuesday’s insane 5-4 drama at the Parc des Princes – backed by a packed and energetic home crowd behind them.

“Will not change his philosophy”
It will be the latest chapter in a monumental showdown between two European giants. Based on the statements made by both coaches during yesterday’s press conferences, they have no intention of giving up on the attacking football philosophy that led them to the semi-finals.
The attacking, relentless and intense football on display in Paris – from the opening minute to the final minute – has been widely praised, but also sparked criticism for the defensive vulnerabilities displayed by both teams. Should they change tactics? Neither Vincent Kompany nor Luis Enrique seem willing to reconsider their approach. Everything points to a new historic spectacle for the fans tonight.
Laimer in – Davies out
Both managers are expected to rely on almost exactly the same line-up as in the first leg. Kompany can instead bring in Konrad Laimer at left-back for Alphonso Davies. The Belgian was already without Serge Gnabry for the first leg – and the winger is still out for the rest of the season.
Luis Enrique, on the other hand, will have to make adjustments. Achraf Hakimi suffered a muscle injury in the opening match. That leaves the Spaniard with a difficult decision about who will replace him.

Zaire-Emery at right-back – Ruiz in the middle
All indications are that Luis Enrique will choose the easiest solution: he will move Warren Zaire-Emery out to right-back, while Fabián Ruiz will take his place in midfield. Ruiz only started in Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Lorient – it was his fifth game since returning on April 19, after being out for three months with a knee injury.
Safonov must stay healthy
Luis Enrique also hopes that Matvey Safonov avoids problems in goal. Lucas Chevalier is unavailable after suffering an injury in Thursday’s training session. Should something happen, PSG will have to resort to 19-year-old Renato Marin – who has yet to make his debut in the Champions League.
A place in the final in Budapest on May 30 awaits the winner of this clash between the European giants. Sit down in front of the TV. The spectacle is guaranteed. Arsenal FC is already waiting.
