There has been a lot of focus on set-pieces this Premier League season. We see it time and time again that some clubs see this as an automatic goal chance – and often succeed, while other clubs are not prepared for tough battles inside the box. Brighton have twelve goals from set pieces so far this season, they chose to go an unconventional route to strengthen themselves in this area.
MMA, or Mixed Martial Arts, is the martial art where most things are allowed, a fusion of different martial arts disciplines. Now the Brighton coach reveals that the club has used an MMA athlete to make the players better equipped to stop defensive set-pieces.

“We brought him (the MMA fighter) in because we’ve talked a lot about set pieces, positioning and new trends in the Premier League. We try to adapt to that because I don’t want this club to always be known as a club that is too nice,” Fabian Hürzveler told The Times.
