It has actually been surprisingly quiet around one of the host nations’ leaders on World Cup issues, but in recent days the football world has also had “its dose”. On Sunday, it became known that USA profile Folarin Balogun was ready to play for the round of 8 against Belgium despite receiving a red card in the round of 16. The Athletic claimed it was the host nation’s leader who called Fifa president Gianni Infantino after the match to have Balogun’s ban lifted. On Monday, the confirmation came.
Trump met with the press, and there he confirms that he asked Fifa to check the red card that Balogun received.

“I asked for a reassessment from Fifa. I spoke to a man who is highly respected. I made him do it. It wasn’t (Joe) Biden, he was sleeping,” Trump said, before later clarifying how the decision to postpone the suspension of Balogun was made. I don’t think he was the one who decided it. I think it was a committee that decided, that and they did the right thing,” Trump begins.
Which explains the rules of football for those who disagree.
“I am a person who loves sports and who was a good athlete. I understand sports very well. It wasn’t a foul, it wasn’t even an incident. There were two people running at full speed and crashing into each other,” Trump continues.

Which, of course, tells us how suspicious the Brazilian Raphael Claus, who gave the red card, really is.
“The referee was a bit suspicious, if you check his past. I don’t like to say it, because I don’t like to create controversy. He made a decision that no one could make,” Trump said.
