When we close our eyes and think about the World Cup, we see a Norwegian team machine, Nusa’s magnificent goal, Haaland’s two cannons against Brazil, Nyland’s fantastic saves against the same football superpower, Viking rowing in full display – and Andreas Schelderup’s goal against England in the quarter-finals. FIFA has also taken note of the latter.
We’ll let NBC draw the description of the event, where the Norwegian 22-year-old pulled in from the edge and made Jordan Pickford look like a little prankster: “Norway’s other up-and-coming left winger made his mark. Andreas Schjelderup opened with a goal in the first half with a sensational shot from his weak foot. Attempted crossing? No, it didn’t seem like that!”
The American media outlet has ranked Schelderup’s goal against England as the World Cup’s 5th roughest.
FIFA has nominated Schelderups as the World Cup’s 5th best scorer among those who came in the quarterfinals and semifinals. The other nominees are Mbappé, Bellingham, Alvarez, Porro and Enzo Fernandez.
