Tottenham start the season where they left off in the previous one. Tottenham were overtaken in the opening game by Kristoffer Ajer’s club Brentford, which on paper should be an easy match. – Especially after the huge sums the London club have spent on players this summer.

This really doesn’t look good, manager Roberto de Zerbi is not happy and stood on the sidelines on Saturday and watched his players not bother to play.

3 – 0 is a crisis, a crisis the size of Manchester United’s loss against Hull City. – This does not bode well for Tottenham, who finished 17th in the Premier League the last two seasons. Because they conceded the most goals of the games played on Friday and Saturday, they are now in 20th place.

One can ask whether Tottenham will “finally” be relegated from the Premier League. – That has never happened. – You have to go back to before the Premier League the last time Tottenham were relegated from the top division in England. (1977)

Tottenham Hotspur are facing a dramatic final spurt in the transfer window. The club is now very close to securing both Savinho and Omar Marmoush, and this attacking double signing could have major consequences for several of Roberto De Zerbi’s current attacking players.

The Lilywhites have already spent significant sums of money on strengthening both defence and midfield earlier in the window, with acquisitions such as Jan Paul van Hecke, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. The attacking reinforcements have been a long time coming, but now it looks like the club will finally secure two of the most sought-after names on their wish list.

The Manchester City duo arrive for a formidable transfer fee, bringing technical sophistication, elegance and versatility to De Zerbi’s side in the final third. The reinforcements are much needed for a Spurs team where the current attacking options have proven inadequate.

However, with these arrivals, the playing time for several of the club’s current attacking profiles is likely to be significantly reduced. Tottenham may also be dependent on sales revenues to balance their accounts after the big investments. Here are four Spurs attackers who could now be on their way out.

Richarlison

Richarlison has been the subject of transfer speculation for several years, but a deal has never materialized, and he has time and again played his way back into the heat. Although he will most likely start against Brentford on Saturday, Marmoush’s arrival could prompt the Brazilian to ask his agent to map out alternative destinations.

The Egyptian and Dominic Solanke are likely to be De Zerbi’s two main striker options, which will drastically reduce Richarlison’s playing time. The 29-year-old is at a point in his career where he is unlikely to settle for a peripheral role.

Richarlison’s stats at Tottenham (all competitions)

Season Matches Objectives Assists
2022/23 35 3 3
2023/24 31 12 4
2024/25 24 5 2
2025/26 45 13 5

Everton have reportedly shown interest in a surprise return of their former striker, and this could be a suitable solution for the 29-year-old. If a swap doesn’t materialise in the final two weeks of the window, a January transfer could be on the cards – especially when Richarlison gets clarity on how marginal his role at N17 will be.

Mikey Moore

Like Richarlison, Mikey Moore could get game time against Brentford, but this is largely due to the club’s extensive injury problems rather than the youngster playing his way to a place on his own. Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert and Xavi Simons are all out with long-term injuries, the City duo is yet to be officially unveiled, and Solanke and Mohammed Kudus are doubtful for the game.

This makes Moore the only real option on the right wing, and he could make his last appearance in a Spurs shirt at the Gtech Community Stadium. The 19-year-old was on loan at Rangers last season, where he played 47 games, but without setting the league on fire – only seven goals were scored in the series.

Moore undoubtedly has the potential to become a specialist, but his playing time in the 2026/27 season could be very limited. Tottenham could therefore consider sending the youngster out on a new one-year loan to further develop.

Dane Scarlett

Unlike Moore, there is little to suggest that Dane Scarlett has a long-term future at Tottenham. The striker has had several disappointing loan spells in recent years, most recently with just one goal in 13 appearances for Hibernian.

At 22, it is doubtful that he will develop into a player of the necessary calibre for a team with ambitions of Champions League play. De Zerbi has clearly made his views on Scarlett clear through the sparse use of the youngster in pre-season, and it is therefore likely that he will find a new home before the transfer window closes.

Wilson Odobert

Wilson Odobert showed positive pace in a weak Spurs team last season, but was hit by an unfortunate long-term injury in February – just as he was getting up to speed.

While it is not inconceivable that he could return and fight his way to a place in De Zerbi’s squad, Savinho will probably be preferred to the Frenchman. This hierarchy can eventually lead to the disappearance of Odobert. His injury probably makes a sale before the end of the summer window unlikely, but an exit in January could quickly become a reality.
