The debut season started with a Bundesliga title, this season Bayern are cruising towards a new title and a record number of goals, on Wednesday Kompany’s Bayern game sank Real Madrid. Now, there is not a jaw that questions the Manchester City legend’s competence. For the down-to-earth Belgian, Wednesday’s wild 4-3 win against Real Madrid was on par with two games as Burnley coach.

“I remember beating Blackburn twice at Burnley and there’s probably no one in this room who would compare that to the game today (Wednesday), but it was fantastic,” Kompany explained at the press conference.
