A tempting bid and a number of events related to it could mean that Liverpool are actually helping Manchester United sell Marcus Rashford.

Liverpool inadvertently help Manchester United solve the Marcus Rashford problem.
Barcelona have chosen not to exercise their option to buy Marcus Rashford. The option was set at 30 million euros and expires in two days, but Barca have already decided.
Several sources have suggested that the Spanish champions could try to restore interest later in the transfer window. But they would then look for a new loan deal – something Manchester United have stressed throughout this case that they will not accept.
The Red Devils want to sell Rashford and get rid of his €400,000 million weekly payment as quickly as possible. Now that the possibility of such a deal with Barcelona is over, other suitors are emerging.
Bayern Munich’s desperate need could benefit Manchester United
Arsenal have been linked with a somewhat fanciful swap where Rashford goes to the Gunners and Gabriel Martinelli comes to Old Trafford.
But by far the most concrete link comes from Bayern Munich, who are desperate to provide high-quality competition to Luis Diaz on the left wing.
Bayern have already tried – and failed – to sign Anthony Gordon this summer. Barcelona won that race with a bid of over 60 million euros. The German champions then turned their attention to Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha – but the Reds have rejected the interest with a smile.
Liverpool inadvertently help United get rid of Rashford
Ngumoha is not leaving Liverpool, and it is precisely that decision from the Reds that has led Bayern to prepare a tempting opening bid for Rashford.
The Mirror is among those who are now reporting that Liverpool’s refusal to sell Ngumoha to Bayern could help Manchester United in their bid to sell Rashford.
Christian Falk claims that Bayern could go for the 28-year-old. GMS insider Fraser Fletcher, has received information about the size of the bid that is on the way. He reveals that Bayern are planning to put 20 million euros on the table – which sources describe as an “opening bid”.
There could thus be an improved second bid if, as expected, United reject the offer of 20 million when it comes.
Manchester United want the same price as Barcelona should pay
However, Manchester United can bite the bullet and say yes to speeding up Rashford’s exit and putting an end to his time at Old Trafford as quickly as possible.
But we are told that Manchester United are still determined to hold on to the price Barcelona would have paid.
All eyes will therefore be on Bayern and the question of whether they will return with more euros more if their impending first bid of 20 million euros is rejected.
Given their growing desperation – having failed to sign Gordon and Liverpool’s Ngumoha – it is entirely possible that Bayern will pay.
