Liverpool are ready to sell Alexis Mac Allister in the upcoming transfer window, as the club look to raise money for new reinforcements. In recent years, Mac Allister has proven to be one of Liverpool’s most important players and one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

But during the 2025/26 season, the Argentine international has lost his mojo. He simply fell off a cliff compared to his performance from the season when the team won the title.

As a result, Liverpool can now try to raise money to improve the squad with new reinforcements. If Mac Allister leaves, Liverpool will need to bring in a new midfielder – and now they are aiming for a £100m star.

Liverpool plan £100 million transfer

According to a report by journalist Alan Nixon, Liverpool are ready to sell Mac Allister in the transfer window to raise capital. Liverpool are very interested in transforming their midfield and will be willing to sell both Curtis Jones and Mac Allister.

Liverpool want to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, but the “Eagles” are hoping to cash in around £100 million to let him leave. As a result, the Reds will have to raise money by selling Mac Allister and Jones – two players they are willing to let go.

Atletico Madrid are showing interest in signing Mac Allister, but they have not yet made a bid, and they are exploring other options.

A move for Wharton is likely to depend on a big sale in midfield, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will pay £100m.

Wharton – an upgrade of Mac Allister?

There is no doubt that it would be smart for “the Reds” to bring Wharton to the club and sell Mac Allister – as long as they get a strong bid for the latter.

The England international is one of the best in the Premier League at moving the ball from deep positions, something Liverpool have struggled with recently.

New manager Andoni Iraola would love Wharton, who has been described as a “superstar”, but it will certainly not be an easy deal.

Other clubs are also likely to be interested in signing Wharton this summer, and a £100m price tag could deter the Merseyside club from making a bid.
