Manchester City. Real Madrid. Bayern Munich. All the giants have decided to sign a young international who will be one of Julian Nagelsmann’s most important offensive pieces on the World Cup chessboard in 2026. In Bayern, it is clear to win the battle for Florian Wirtz.
It doesn’t seem like anyone is holding back the praise of 21-year-old Florian Wirtz, who for several seasons is already delivering at a consistently high level. The German is on all top lists of talents on the rise.

Florian Wirtz’s current contract runs until the summer of 2027. In total, there have been 48 goals and 52 assists in 169 games in the Bayer Leverkusen shirt. Impressive for a player who still hasn’t celebrated with 22 candles on his birthday cake. Bayern want to pair Wirtz with compatriot Jamal Musiala, a “dream duo” for an entire decade for the Bundesliga giant.
Manchester City see Wirtz as the optimal Kevin de Bruyne replacement, Real Madrid want the German simply because he is one of the biggest talents.
Now it is reported that Bayern Munich are clearing space to win the battle for Wirtz’s signature. According to German Sky Sports, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl has made the decision that Goretzka will be sold. The plan is for Goretzka to be shipped out on a lease in January with an option to buy in the summer. The 29-year-old will help provide Bayern with funds for the “war chest” for an all-in push for Wirtz’s signing in the summer.
